JERRY Jones has made some early moves in his search for a new Dallas Cowboys head coach.
It comes as Mike McCarthy’s five-year deal expires this week and confirmation there will not be a renewal.

Ex Cowboys tight end Jason Witten has been mentioned as a potential candidate[/caption]
McCarthy is out of a job after Tuesday and the Cowboys are looking for a new leader.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the job could go to one of two franchise icons.
Schefter gave an update on ESPN’s coverage of Monday Night Football between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings.
He claimed there has been initial discussions with Deion Sanders, who currently coaches at the Colorado Buffaloes.
And former tight end Jason Witten was also mentioned.
“They have spoken with amongst other candidates, Deion Sanders,” Schefter said.
“There is a mutual interest there.
“I go back to a year and a half ago when I had a former general manager say to me ‘Watch Deion Sanders. There’s a real possibility he may be the next head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.’
“Well, there is mutual interest.
“We’ll see if that amps up but the two sides have talked, have touched base.”
Schefter added, “I think at some point in time, the Cowboys could have some level of interest in the Eagles’ offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore.
“Potentially maybe Jason Witten, an all-time franchise great.
“But this is very early on and very preliminary and we’ll see where Jerry Jones goes.”
Sanders, 57, was a player for the Cowboys from 1995 to 1999 and won the Super Bowl with them.
He has consistently claimed he is happy coaching Colorado.
‘Match made in heaven’

Deion Sanders becoming head coach of the Dallas Cowboys is a match made in heaven.
It’s been 30 years now since the Cowboys last won a Super Bowl and something has to change.
This is “America’s Team,” but it has become a laughing stock and needs someone to restore them to their past glory.
That candidate who takes over from Mike McCarthy at head coach must have some magic and inspiration.
Step forward, Deion Sanders.
Sanders, 57, is one of the best players to have ever stepped on the field and was on Dallas’ team the last time they won a Super Bowl.
He is quite literally ‘Prime Time’ and that spark is exactly what the Cowboys need.
As for Deion, now is the perfect time for him to move on as well.
He has taken the Buffaloes to new heights both in terms of results and popularity.
His son, Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders, is also in his senior year in college.
Sanders could probably land a head coaching job on a legitimate national championship contender if he wants to stay in college.
But a chance to coach the Dallas Cowboys may not come calling again.
Witten, 42, meanwhile was an 11-time Pro Bowl tight end for the Cowboys.
He is one of the best players to wear the Dallas jersey and spent most of his career there.
Dallas finished 7-10 and third in the NFC East this year.
McCarthy previously oversaw three 12-5 seasons before this one.
And contract talks apparently broke down over the length of a proposed new deal.
