Jim Harbaugh health update after Los Angeles Chargers head coach suffers heart problems in Broncos game

LOS Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh has opened up on his health issues ahead of his team’s Week 7 NFL game.

The 60-year-old Harbaugh had an eye-opening heart incident during the Chargers‘ 23-17 win over the Denver Broncos over the weekend.

Before the divisional matchup, CBS’s cameras showed Harbaugh heading to the blue medical tent.

Then, during the first quarter, the coach left the sideline and rushed to the locker room.

The Chargers revealed that Harbaugh was dealing with an “illness” and the veteran coach returned later in the first quarter.

Harbaugh coached the remainder of the game and said after the win that he experienced an arrhythmia or an irregular heartbeat.

On Monday, Harbaugh shared that he would be back to coach his team next weekend, no matter what.

“It would take my heart stopping for me not to be out there on the sideline,” Harbaugh said on Monday, per the Los Angeles Times.

Harbaugh explained that he was feeling irregular heartbeats the day before the Week 6 game and before the game.

The former Michigan Wolverines coach had a similar experience in 2012, coaching the San Francisco 49ers.

Harbaugh received a magnesium pill and an IV in the locker room while talking to paramedics.

It was revealed on Monday that a cardiologist said that he will now wear a heart monitor for two weeks.

Harbaugh will take a blood-thinning medication and a medication that stops his heart rate from spiking or decreasing.

“As always, we’ll trust the doctors,” he said.

Los Angeles moved to 3-2 after the win against Denver.

Star quarterback Justin Herbert found out about Harbaugh’s health issue when a reporter asked him about the situation during his postgame news conference.

“He’s tough,” Herbert said, via ESPN. “He did a really good job of hiding that then because I was unaware of it.

“They did a good job of keeping calm. I hope he’s OK. Is he all right?”

This is Harbaugh’s first season with the Chargers.

He had spent the previous seven seasons as the head coach at Michigan.

Harbaugh led the 49ers from 2011 to 2014 in his only previous NFL head coach job.

The Chargers will face the Arizona Cardinals next week on Monday Night Football.
