Edwards-Helaire joined the Chiefs in 2020 as a first-round pick from Louisiana State University.

And he ended up making 56 appearances for the side.

Edwards-Helaire thought the highlight of his career had come in 2022 when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl.

They beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in a thrilling encounter.

But things got even better in 2023 when Edwards-Helaire helped the Chiefs to a second straight Super Bowl win.

A 25-22 victory over the San Francisco 49ers secured the historic victory.

However, Edwards-Helaire is now on the hunt for a new side after he was given the boot this week.

And he paid an emotional tribute to his former side in a touching post on social media.

Edwards-Helaire said: “Love ya KC! A family I didn’t know I needed, ya’ll made a kid from Baton Rouge’s dreams come true!

“To Chiefs Kingdom, it’s all love and the support I had in troubling times will be forever unmatched from you guys. With love, Clydro.”

Fans were certainly upset to see one of their heroes leave.

One said: “Thanks for everything, we love and appreciate you.”

Another declared: “Chiefs kingdom will always be a place for you and the journey you went on will never be forgotten.”

One noted: “Forever a chief, thanks for everything you did.”

Another added: “I will always hope for the best for you Clyde.”
