Popular actor Kanwar Dhillon who plays the lead role of Sachin Deshmukh in Star Plus’ Udne Ki Aasha identifies himself quite a lot when it comes to the mannerisms and behaviour of his character. Considering it as a pleasure to play the character, Kanwar tells us at IWMBuzz.com, “I don’t have to play Sachin; I just have to be him because he is partly how I am in real life. I am a Mumbai-born and raised kid, and having grown up in a family, I have always had kids around me, so I had the best of both worlds. I become a more rowdy version of myself when I am in the character. I go on set with a clear picture of how I would do a particular scene and go for it without preparing much. I feel blessed to be in Udne Ki Aasha because I get to play such a mind-blowing character, especially one that’s very close to how I am in real life. Sachin Deshmukh is by far the most exciting and best character I could have played.”
Talking about his great onscreen chemistry with co-actor Neha Harsora, Kanwar tells us, “My chemistry with Neha has been appreciated from day one. We share great on-screen chemistry and look good together as our characters. Off-screen, too, she’s a sweet girl, and we gel well. I think the only secret to this is building a scene with your co-actor and creating that comfort level. When there are scenes that demand intimacy or certain body language, there has to be a lot of comfort between the performers. Neha and I have bonded well from day one, and I have seen her growth in playing Sailee. Viewers can expect a lot of romance and beautiful scenes ahead, showing all sides of Sachin and Sailee together.”
Kanwar praises the beautiful sequences that have been specifically directed by Producer Rahul Tewary saying, “He has directed some beautiful sequences, the latest being the temple scene where Sachin carries Sailee in his arms while climbing the temple stairs. Before that, he directed the rain sequence, which was largely appreciated and well-rated. Whenever Rahul Sir directs a sequence, he adds a touch of magic to it. I keep telling him to direct more sequences, especially outdoor locations because our team enjoys those a lot. It’s always been a great experience whenever Rahul Sir is around. I am grateful to him for giving me Udne Ki Aasha and for believing in me right from the day of the mock shoot. His immense faith and confidence have made me comfortable in my character. I always look forward to his feedback, which has always been positive.”
Talking about the sweetest compliment that he has received for Sachin’s character, Kanwar states, “The best compliment that Rahul Sir gave me was, “Tere ko kya problem hai, tu toh Sachin hi hai re.” There’s no greater compliment than your producer telling you that you are Sachin. I am really happy to work with such a beautiful team and a wonderful producer who believes in my craft so much. I have a beautiful bond with him, and he’s one of the finest producers I have worked with.”
On the widely appreciated one-liners and hard-hitting dialogues in that show, for Sachin, Kanwar says, “Many of the one-liners and hard-hitting dialogues in the show are things I add to the script. Growing up in Mumbai, being a Malad boy, and having a variety of friends, I have picked up on many Mumbai slangs. When I read the script, I often feel I can add certain lines here and there. Many of the slangs are my personal additions. Every day, I sit with the director and the creatives of the show, adding layers and flavour to the script, and it has worked well. You see something different for a male lead, and I am just being greedy and selfish, trying to take the character deeper in every scene. I am grateful to the audience for all the love they have shown the show and Sachin.”
