Kembo Mohadi Addresses Health Rumours Amid Claims of Seeking Medical Care Abroad
Acting President Kembo Mohadi has responded to social media claims suggesting he is seriously ill and seeking medical treatment abroad.
Past Health Incidents Fuel Speculation
Speculation about Mohadi’s health gained traction after some social media users alleged he had travelled to India for urgent medical care. These claims followed previous incidents in 2024 when Mohadi’s health was called into question after he collapsed on multiple occasions.
One notable incident occurred in May 2024 during a lecture at the University of Zimbabwe. Midway through his presentation on “Liberation Movements and African Unity: Why Resilience Matters for Sustained Transformative Possibilities,” Mohadi appeared disoriented and asked for water. Moments later, he collapsed, prompting his aides to assist him.
“He couldn’t stand and so they helped him to a chair. He spoke briefly after and after animated backstage discussions his presentation was cut short,” the witness said.
Journalists at the scene were instructed by security personnel to stop filming or taking pictures.
Kembo Mohadi was recently appointed Acting President up until 19 January after President Emmerson Mnangagwa went on his month-long annual leave.
