The new Duster is the jewel in the budget Romanian marque’s crown – the perfect small SUV for family deivers
Available with either a 1.0-liter bi-fuel, a 1.2-liter mild-hybrid, and even a 1.6-liter full hybrid, it can also be bought as front or all-wheel drive.
This is important as, while spacious inside, the vehicle’s trunk, with all the seats folded down can fit up to 57.0 cubic feet of stuff – but only if you pick the front wheel drive car.
At the bare basics, the Duster Essential version is as plain as it gets – but also the cheapest option – while the Expression adds alloy wheels, a backup camera, a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, and more.
Extreme gets the same as Expression, but with bigger wheels, copper brown details, and is great for off-roading, while the Journey is a parallel top spec geared towards comfort.
Inside, all Duster iterations are nicely designed with sensible hard plastics and comfortable seats.
In a review of the Duster for our Sun Motors’ UK brothers, editor Rob Gill said that the Duster “has all the minerals most people need: Proper mechanical 4WD, high ground clearance and attack angles, chunky tyres, five drive modes and hill descent control.
“Its all-round cameras will help you to avoid scrapes with rocks, or, more likely, hungry walls at the multi-storey car park.”
Currently sold in Europe, in the UK the Duster will fetch around £18,000 at its lowest, which is $24,326 to you and me.
