Steve Edge is best known for his many comedic roles but he is well known for his role as Billy Dawson in Benidorm.
The Staffordshire-born actor, 52, made his first TV appearance in 2000 as Alan in That Peter Kay Thing. Steve went on to work with comedian Peter Kay again in Phoenix Nights, where he played the character Alan again.
After small roles in sitcoms such as Cold Feet, Family Business, No Angels and Peep Show, Steve once again reprized his role as Alan in Max & Paddy’s Road to Nowhere.
Other notable roles include David ‘Doddsy’ Dodds in Mike Bassett: Manager, Bigsy in Scaborough, David Foster in The Reluctant Landlord, Mr. Styles in Scallywagga and Terry McConnell in The Cup.
He also played several characters in the sketch show Star Stories. Between 2012 and 2013 he played Fergie in Starlings, before going on to play the father in All at Sea. Happy Valley fans may remember him as Graham Tattersall in The Brilliant BBC drama. More recently, Steve played the straight role of DS Collins in Until I Kill You.
The actor has now returned to our TV screens as he stars in the Madame Blanc Mysteries Christmas special. The Channel 5 drama sees Steve reprise his role as Dom Hayes, Jean’s love interest.
The synopsis of the festive special reads: “It’s Christmas Eve at Sainte Victoire’s bustling Christmas market, and father-and-son puppeteers Frederick and Christian are in a festive mood, drinking mulled wine as they prepare for their show.”
It continued: “But later, as Christian entertains the crowd, Frederick misses his cue – and a nearby vendor screams when she finds Frederick’s body on the ground, a blood-soaked puppet still on his hand. As Jean searches the crime scene, she discovers something sinister about the doll , and as she and Caron investigate, Jean becomes certain that Frederick’s death was no accident.
“Elsewhere, Judith receives an alarming Christmas card from her former maid of honor that reveals a disturbing fact about her marriage, and Dom is delighted when Jean invites him to spend the night with her for the first time as a couple.”
Away from our TV screens, Steve is preparing to live a more private life and has chosen not to share much with his followers. According to reports, Steve is married to a mystery woman and the couple tied the knot in August 2014.
The actor also has a close friendship with comedian Jason Manford and the pair have worked together on a podcast and on Absolute Radio. Jason was reportedly best man at Steve’s wedding and Stece is also godfather to Manford’s twin daughters.
The Madame Blanc Mysteries Christmas Special will air on Christmas Eve on Channel 5 at 21.15 in the UK
