Maharashtra Culture Minister Ashish Shelar has directed his department to implement a single-window clearance system to simplify the process of obtaining permission for film shoots. In a meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House, Shelar emphasized the vital role played by the culture department in promoting employment and raising social awareness. He emphasized the need for effective implementation of necessary plans and initiatives to promote cultural activities and film industry in Maharashtra.
The meeting, which was attended by key officials including Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Culture Department, Vikas Kharge, and Managing Director of Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation, Swati Mhase Patil, outlined the plans for the next 100 days. Discussions included the launch of the one-window online system for film shooting permission across Maharashtra, the redevelopment of PL Deshpande Maharashtra Kala Academy and the organization of various cultural events.
The proposed single-window system is expected to streamline the approval process for filmmakers, making Maharashtra a preferred destination for film production. By simplifying bureaucratic obstacles, the government hopes to attract more filmmakers and thereby increase local employment and economic growth. During the meeting, Shelar also discussed upcoming initiatives like the special publication ceremony dedicated to Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar and the Maharashtra Bhushan Award ceremony. These events are expected to celebrate the state’s rich cultural heritage and recognize outstanding contributions to the arts. Other participants included Deputy Secretary Mahesh Wavhal, Deputy Secretary Nanda Raut and several senior officials from various cultural and literary organisations. The heads of departments unveiled detailed plans for the redevelopment of cultural infrastructure, including new projects and programs aimed at promoting talent and preserving Maharashtra’s artistic heritage.
Ashish Shelar reiterated his commitment to revitalize Maharashtra’s cultural and cinematic landscape. “The Department of Culture has the power to create significant employment opportunities while promoting social awareness. Through innovative initiatives like one-window clearance, we aim to position Maharashtra as the hub of the film industry,” he said. The single-window clearance scheme is expected to attract not only domestic filmmakers but also international productions, putting Maharashtra on the global film map With a clear focus on modernization and inclusion, the state is poised to make significant strides in cultural and cinematic excellence.
