STARBUCKS has shut down yet another location in California, closing its downtown San Jose store in the popular San Pedro Square.
The coffee shop at 145 W. Santa Clara Street brewed its final cup on January 5, marking the end of an era for a beloved spot.

While Starbucks still has 50 locations citywide, it’s a huge hit for the area.
The closure comes just weeks after the Pacific Heights location in San Francisco shut its doors on December 1, 2024.
The location had been a staple in the neighborhood since 1993.
For coffee lovers in the downtown area, it’s not all bad.
There are two other Starbucks locations remaining nearby, one at E. Santa Clara and 5th Street and another at 150 S. First Street to enjoy.
The brand’s presence remains strong throughout the city.
Both of the recent closures are part of what Starbucks describes as its ongoing evaluation of its store portfolio, assessing performance and sustainability.
STARBUCKS STATEMENT
In a statement to KTVU, the coffee giant emphasized its commitment to San Jose despite the closure.
“We value our long-time relationship with the city of San Jose and look forward to our continued participation as part of the community in neighborhoods citywide,” the company said.
They also acknowledged the weight of such decisions, noting, “We do not take the decision to close stores lightly.”
