Man Utd agree personal terms with Joshua Zirkzee as they close in on stunning double transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED have agreed to personal terms to sign Joshua Zirkzee as they close in on a stunning double transfer.

The Bologna striker has been a top target for the Red Devils after the club were unable to purchase a forward in the January transfer window.

United have been given the “green light” from both Zirkzee and Bayern Munich‘s Matthijs de Ligt to join the club, according to transfer report Fabrizio Romano.

This follows as the club closed a deal with the 23-year-old Serie A star as the Red Devils decide whether to activate the £33m release clause for the Dutch star, according to The Athletic.

Zirkzee emerged as United’s primary target as the club seeks to secure the services of a reliable talisman to compete with Rasmus Hojlund and replace Anthony Martial.

The 6ft 4ins frontman notched 11 goals and four assists in 34 Serie A matches in the domestic season just finished.

He was rewarded with a late call-up to Ronald Koeman‘s Netherlands squad for Euro 2024 who are set to face England in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

Zirkzee marked his senior international debut after coming off the bench with three minutes to spare in Holland’s quarter-final win over Turkey in Berlin on Saturday evening.

Meanwhile, fellow Dutchman De Ligt has made it clear that he only wants to make the move to Old Trafford.

The centre-back has rejected interest from Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.

And the details of the transfer will reportedly see him sign a five-year deal.

Man Utd will pay the Bavarians around £42million plus add-ons while the Germans sign Bayer Leverkusen star Jonathan Tah.

The Dutch defender has also indicated he wants to move and reunite with Erik ten Hag, who was his coach when the pair was at Ajax.
