A 25-year-old man from Marange fatally struck his 71-year-old aunt, striking her with a pestle and a shovel after she reprimanded him over his drinking and dressing.
The Manica Post reported that the tragedy unfolded on October 15 in Matanda Village under Chief Marange.

According to Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, Acting Manicaland provincial police spokesperson, the accused, Forget Bisendi, reacted violently after his aunt, Anna Mandiambira, advised him to dress properly and avoid excessive drinking. A disagreement reportedly began when Anna noticed Bisendi’s trousers were loose and slipping, prompting her to accuse him of being intoxicated.
“Ms. Mandiambira reprimanded Bisendi and also accused him of being drunk. This did not go down well with the accused, who responded harshly, saying he was not drunk, and a misunderstanding ensued.”
Anna, feeling disrespected, threw a brick at Bisendi, which reportedly ignited his rage.
The situation escalated quickly. Bisendi, who was holding a pestle, struck his aunt on the head, causing her to fall to the veranda. As she lay helpless, Bisendi continued his attack, hitting her three more times with the mortar. He then picked up a shovel and delivered a final blow to her head, leaving her with a severe wound that proved fatal.

The Arrest
Efforts by another relative, Ever Maadza, to intervene were in vain as Bisendi turned on her, striking her with the pestle, injuring her before she managed to escape. Witnesses later reported the incident to Marange Police Station, and officers found the scene gruesome, with bloodstains on the pestle and shovel and a deep cut on Anna’s head.
Following the attack, Bisendi allegedly fled the scene, gathering a satchel of his belongings before vanishing. Police launched a manhunt and have since apprehended him. He is now in custody, cooperating with investigators as they continue their inquiries into the case.
