REPUBLICAN Matt Gaetz has filed a lawsuit to block the public release of a report laying out his alleged sexual and drug misconduct.
The former representative, who was forced to step down last month as Donald Trump’s nominee for attorney general, was found to have paid a number of women and a 17-year-old girl for sex.

A final draft of the report says that Gaetz made payments totaling more than $90,000 to 11 different women and a 17-year-old girl between 2017 and 2020.
On Monday morning, Gaetz filed a suit against the House Ethics Committee, seeking a temporary restraining order to prevent the release of the investigation.
Gaetz has demanded the restraining order on several grounds, arguing, “Media coverage would be immediate and widespread.”
In the lawsuit, Gaetz also says that as he is now a private citizen, he is not subject to the committee’s jurisdiction.
The report lays out a number of lurid allegations against the firebrand Republican.
Gaetz allegedly had sex with “Victim A,” who was 17 years old and had just finished her junior year at high school, twice at a 2017 party, according to the report.
“Victim A recalled receiving $400 in cash from Representative Gaetz that evening, which she understood to be payment for sex,” the report states.
“Victim A said that she did not inform Representative Gaetz that she was under 18 at the time, nor did he ask her age.”
The report also alleges that Gaetz took part in sex- and drug-fueled parties, including at a 2018 trip to the Bahamas where he took ecstasy and had sex with four women.
While all the women who testified for the report said their sexual encounters with Gaetz were consensual, it noted that one woman told the committee the use of drugs at the party had “impaired” her ability to “fully consent.”
Gaetz denied having sex with a minor in his written responses to the committee.
