A motorcyclist lost control and fell while overtaking, leading to a fatal accident with a bus on Ramintra Road in Bangkok. Police quickly responded to the scene to investigate the incident.
Police and rescue volunteers rushed to Ramintra Road after a report of a fatal accident involving a motorcycle and a bus at 5.30am today, October 22. The accident occurred on the outbound side of Ramintra Road, near Ramintra Kilometre .2 in the Anusawari area of Bang Khen, Bangkok.
The body of Dan Sao, a 28 year old Cambodian man, was found lying face down in a pool of blood. He was wearing a black short-sleeved T-shirt and three-quarter-length jeans.
Approximately 5 metres away from the body, a blue Yamaha M-Slaz motorcycle with a Bangkok registration was found overturned in the second lane of the road. A public bus, route 95 (1-10), coloured orange and cream, with a Bangkok registration, was stationary in the leftmost lane. The bus operates between Bang Khen Depot and Hua Mak BTS Station. Police documented the scene for evidence, reported KhaoSod.
The bus driver, 40 year old Sayomphu, stated he had departed from Bang Khen Depot to pick up passengers along the outbound Ramintra Road. As the bus approached Ramintra Soi 7 in the second lane, a speeding motorcycle suddenly attempted to overtake on the right but lost control and skidded across the road, Sayomphu said.
“The motorcycle rider was thrown into the middle of the road, and the bus couldn’t brake in time. The rear right wheel of the bus ran over the motorcyclist, resulting in his death.”
Initial actions by the police included sending the deceased’s body to the forensic department at Bhumibol Hospital and reviewing CCTV footage from the area to piece together the events leading to the accident.
In related news, a serious accident occurred involving a traffic police officer on duty on the Si Saman intersection expressway. A young woman driving a white Honda Jazz collided with the officer’s motorcycle, resulting in the officer sustaining significant injuries.
