The woman claimed she had booked an economy cab but the driver who accepted the ride had a premium vehicle.
Rapido has courted controversy due to the unprofessional behavior of a rider. A Mumbai-based technician alleged that a Rapido driver recently asked her to pay extra for an economy trip. When she refused to do so, the person assaulted the woman and threatened her on in-app messenger. The customer, Ohshin, shared a screenshot of the chat on X (formerly Twitter) and the post soon went viral. The woman claimed that she had booked an economy cabin but that the driver who accepted the trip had a premium vehicle.
“He asked me to pay extra because his car is premium, I denied it and told him to cancel,” Ohshin wrote on X. In response, the taxi driver reportedly asked the customer to cancel the trip from her side, perhaps to avoid someone Ohshin refused immediately and that’s when the man tried to threaten her.
“Cancel kar do varna pel dunga khade khade (Cancel the ride or I will beat you),” said the driver. He then abused the Mumbai technician, calling her a “Bhikhari ki aulad (child of a beggar)”. The woman did nothing but respond with some laughing emojis. According to Hindustan Times, she later booked an Uber and the driver was forced to cancel the ride himself.
