An old book found at an antique store turned out to be worth $2,000.
The book’s owner brought it in to the History Channel show Pawn Stars to get it appraised.

His book’s covers were carved into wood, he said[/caption]
The book, Seven Years in Tibet, had a controversial background and specific details that added value.
While the collector wanted $3,000, Pawn Stars host Rick ultimately decided that was too much after consulting a friend and expert.
BOOK DEAL
The special edition cover was apparently made of wood, which the owner said was hand-carved by Tibetan monks.
The book is an autobiographical account from Heinrich Harrer, an Austrian Nazi officer.
The events of World War II stranded him in Tibet, a heavily-Buddhist region now under the control of China.
Printed in 1993, his special edition version of the book was signed by the author.
The book was made by the Limited Editions Club, a group which prints high-quality books for collectors.
Its owner bought the book at an antique bookstore in Chicago.
His edition was also signed by the author after it was created in 1993.
The high quality pages and details make it a collectors item as well as a classic story.
When host Rick brought in an expert, she was visibly excited by the details in the binding and pages.
However, she estimated that it was worth around $2,000.
Since Rick needs to buy for less than the true value, he offered to take it for $1,500.
The seller refused, saying it had more value to him personally.
RARE ITEMS
Pawn Stars has showcased a variety of rare goods that are worth thousands.
The show featured a Beatles record that was worth up to $20,000.
That value was all thanks to a key sticker.
Rick’s pawn shop also recently bought a guitar for $20,000.
Antiques Roadshow is another popular source for appraisals.
The show shared an old doll worth $20,000.
It also helped one woman flip a $50 purchase into $100,000.
