South Africans are expressing disappointment after Mbuso Mandela, the grandson of Nelson Mandela, was released by the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court following his arrest in connection with a hijacking incident on Wednesday.
Mbuso was taken into custody after a stolen vehicle was discovered at the Houghton residence that once belonged to the former president. However, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) stated that he was released due to insufficient evidence to press charges.
Investigations Continue Despite Release
The stolen car was found at the iconic property, but authorities are still investigating whether Mbuso Mandela had any direct involvement in the crime. While he was released, the case has not been closed, and the state is working to establish a possible connection.
Meanwhile, four other suspects appeared before Magistrate Johan Herman on related charges. The suspects are facing three charges, and an identity parade is expected to be conducted over the weekend. The case against them has been postponed to next Friday.
