THE Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has embarked on an ambitious phase two project to upgrade its sports village situated at Mt Hampden, on the outskirts of Harare.
Construction will include a technical centre, dormitory, pitch side changing rooms for players, who will use the facilities for camping ahead of national duty.
NewZimbabwe.com could not immediately establish how much the upgrading will cost the governing body although 3 Dimension photos of the envisaged facilities point to state-of-art amenities.
Although the ZIFA Village project has been under implementation for years, building of new structures under the second phase of renovations has highlighted the association’s resolve to improve standards.
ZIFA has since flighted a tender advertisement calling for project managers and construction companies to put bids.
“ZIFA is an organisation whose main purpose is to promote and foster the development of the game of football in Zimbabwe. To meet its objectives, ZIFA intends to construct a technical centre, dormitory, pitch side changing rooms and outdoor civil engineering works at the Zifa Village in Mt Hampden.
“To be qualified for award of contract, the successful offeror must be registered with the relevant construction bodies, (ZBCA, CIFOZ) under Categories A or B,” reads the advert.
“This solicitation in no way obligates ZIFA to award a contract nor does it commit ZIFA to pay any cost incurred in the preparation and submission of a proposal.
“ZIFA bears no responsibility for data errors resulting from transmission or conversion processes. ZIFA appreciates your responsiveness and looks forward to a mutually beneficial business relationship,” it further reads.
