PATRICK Mahomes is facing a major injury at the worst time for the NFL.
The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback was knocked out of his game on Sunday with a lower leg injury.

Mahomes got bent awkwardly on a tackle during the game against the Cleveland Browns and was left on the ground in heaps of pain.
He was helped off the field by his teammates and sat out the remainder of the game while backup quarterback Carson Wentz finished it.
After the game it was revealed that Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain.
That kind of injury can carry a hefty recovery time, but the Chiefs are hopeful that he can get back on the field without missing significant time.
A serious injury would see Mahomes missing at least the next two games, as the Chiefs play on Saturday this week and then Christmas day, which is on a Wednesday.
Only three games are left in the season, but the Chiefs are battling for the No. 1 seed.
They’re going to want Mahomes in as many games as possible, and there is a chance he doesn’t miss any time.
After the win against the Browns, Mahomes said he thought he would be able to return to the game, but decided to play it safe.
“It’s hard to say right now,” Mahomes said.
“You still [have the] adrenaline rolling and usually it’s kind of the day after when you kind of get a good sense of it.
“I feel like I could have finished the game in different circumstances, but I thought the smart decision… was to put Carson Wentz in.
“You just do what you have to do to get back, and I think that’s the most important thing.
“And now we just get back to the rehab part, the treatment part, and try to get ourselves ready on a short week against a good football team.”
Head coach Andy Reid also shared that Mahomes could have returned to the game, but that “there was no need for that.”
“He wanted to fight about it, but we’ve got a good support there behind him with Carson and it was good to get him a few reps in there too and let our guys hear that snap count in case he has to go,” Reid said.
NFL on Netflix
Netflix will be the global home of the NFL on Christmas Day this year.
The streaming service will show two special holiday games live around the world.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs kick off the double header against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 pm ET.
And they’ll be followed by the Baltimore Ravens at the Houston Texans from 4.30 pm ET.
That game will also feature a halftime show from Beyonce in her home town of Houston, Texas.
Netflix also confirmed their broadcast team for the day, led by Fox NFL commentator Greg Olsen and former Good Morning Football host Kay Adams.
Even with Mahomes on the field the Chiefs offense is struggling to perform.
Mahomes had just 159 passing yards before going down with injury, and is likely on his way to his worst offensive season in his career.
Reid is trying to get the team going by heavily passing the ball before the playoffs start.
“You’ve got to be able to throw the ball in this league,” Reid said.
“Some of our runs didn’t work too well either, so we’ve got to make sure we clean that up and get that going.
“That’s where I can kind of give him [better plays], do a better job there for him.”
