NFL fans ‘freaking out’ after controversial broadcast decision during RedZone is made for first time ever

FANS were left furious on Sunday as NFL RedZone included commercials.

The broadcast, as always, was hosted by Scott Hanson.

Hanson, 53, began the program with his catchphrase, that viewers could expect “seven hours of commercial-free football.”

Only this time, his promise wasn’t entirely correct.

During the show, RedZone included commercials for several league partners.

Rather than cut entirely for commercial breaks, the broadcast would move to a split-screen.

Commercials ran for the likes of Gatorade, Verizon, Visa and Lowe’s.

Per Sportico, it was decided to run ads as a “test” during Sunday’s show.

The change was not announced prior to the broadcast.

Commercials are not expected to run again on RedZone throughout the remaining three weeks of the NFL regular season.

But the change could be pushed through for the 2025 campaign.

Spotting the switch, fans watching on at home were not impressed.

One wrote on X, “so much for 7 hours of commercial free football.”

While a second asked, “Is nothing sacred anymore?”

A third moaned, “I thought there was some error when I first saw it.”

And a fourth cried, “I was in shock and I may never recover. I’m serious.”

A fifth commented, “ain’t no happiness nowhere.”

And another added, “Let’s drop that subscription price.”

RedZone is produced by NFL Network.

It has aired since 2009 and can feature up to eight games at once.

Hanson is the long-time host of the popular show.

There will be three more episodes this regular season before the play-offs begin.
