Figures from 12 months ago saw 7.9 million viewers – a seven per cent bump at the time.

But still, 2024 viewership still topped any other programming – across sports and beyond.

Netflix also joined Amazon Prime this year in streaming NFL matches.

But that meant even more subscription fees for fans to pay for.

Fans had to have access Amazon, ESPN, Fox, NBC, Netflix and CBS to watch all the games.

Amazon had an 11 per cent year-over-year increase to an average of 13.2 million for its Thursday Night Football coverage.

That rose to 13 per cent when also including its Black Friday game.

ESPN had its second-best season in 24 years of airing Monday Night Football – averaging 15m viewers.

But the figure is still down by about 14 per cent from last year’s huge 17.4m average.

Fox averaged 18.4m for all of its NFL coverage, down three per cent.

Sunday afternoon’s America’s Game of the Week coverage led all league broadcast windows with an average of 23.9m – still down 3 per cent.

NBC’s Sunday Night Football averaged 21.6m viewers in total audience delivery – actually up one per cent from 2023.

Netflix made its live NFL debut on Christmas Day – averaging more than 24m viewers for a high-profile doubleheader.

CBS did not disclose any end of season viewership data, but the network did draw one of the year’s biggest audiences with the Nov. 17 Chiefs-Bills game that drew an average of 31.1m.
