A young man swallowed his mother’s psychiatric medication, leading to a violent episode where he bound and assaulted his girlfriend. Police intervened to rescue the woman from their home in Nonthaburi, revealing shocking details about the incident.
Sakson, an officer from the Bang Si Mueang Police Station in Nonthaburi, responded to a report yesterday, December 16 at approximately 4pm of a woman being held and assaulted by her boyfriend inside a house located in the Wat Pa Rerai community.
Officers arrived at the scene, a two-storey half-wooden half-concrete house, to find the doors and windows tightly shut. After several attempts to call out to those inside, a 27 year old man eventually opened the door to meet the officers.
He led them inside, where they encountered a 34 year old woman, known as Pon, emerging from the downstairs bathroom, visibly trembling with fear and her eyes swollen from crying. Despite her appearance, Porn insisted to the police that she had not been harmed by her boyfriend, prompting further questioning to uncover the truth.
The man denied any assault on his girlfriend, attributing their frequent arguments to his jealousy and unfounded suspicions of her infidelity. He claimed that although they often had heated arguments, he never resorted to physically harming her but admitted to self-harm.
Pon shared that they had been in a relationship for about three years, during which she had frequently suffered abuse, especially when her boyfriend consumed his mother’s psychiatric medication. The medication induced hallucinations in him, which did not occur when he abstained from taking it.
Accusations of infidelity
The previous night, Pon’s boyfriend accused her of secretly leaving to meet another man, likely under the influence of the medication, leading to another argument. Despite not having left the house, Pon was coerced to confess, resulting in her boyfriend slapping her and cutting her with a knife. To calm him, she reluctantly allowed him to tie her wrists together.
Pon further expressed that the man’s hallucinations and violent behaviour were recurring issues whenever he took the medication. He had even harmed himself by cutting his head with a knife in her presence, frightening her considerably.
Following the incident, she contacted her uncle for assistance, hoping to move in with him as she no longer felt safe staying with her boyfriend. She feared his violent outbursts might escalate, and she was genuinely scared for her safety.
She expressed her intention to never return to the house, acknowledging the police’s help in rescuing her, reported KhaoSod.
The police proceeded to take the man for a drug test at the station while Pon was entrusted to her uncle, who would take her to his home.
