Homa Bay County Director of Health Kelvin Osuri has revealed that Pastor Raphael Obego died in the theater awaiting surgery on Wednesday 6 November at 10.45am.
After his death, an autopsy was conducted on Obego’s body to determine the cause of his unexpected demise.
Was Pastor Raphael Obego sick?
Osuri stated that Obego had gone to the hospital on Tuesday, November 5, where he reported that he had breathing complications.
However, Osuri stated that after examinations and tests, the doctors found an abdominal infection. Obego began treatment as prescribed, but his condition did not improve.
“However, we realized yesterday very early in the morning that his condition was not improving, and the abdomen continued to swell. But when we entered a tube through his nose, we were able to remove a lot of pus coming from the abdominal area,” Osuri told NTV .
The presence of pus in Obego’s abdomen prompted doctors to investigate the cause, prompting them to plan surgery.
“That’s when the surgeons decided to take him for surgery to find out what was causing the pus in the abdomen… unfortunately that’s when we lost him,” Osuri added.
What did Obego’s autopsy report reveal?
Osuri said family consented to an autopsy on Obego’s body after his death to identify the cause of the pus in the abdomen.
The doctor said the report showed that pus in the priest’s abdomen was caused by intestinal perforations.
“We have since moved the body to the mortuary for storage and preservation as funeral arrangements are made,” he added.
Did William Ruto mourn Obego’s death?
News of Obego’s cause of death came after President William Ruto paid an emotional tribute to him on Thursday, November 7.
In a statement on his X account, Ruto described Obego as a devotee Servant of God and a prayer warrior.
He also offered condolences to the family and the late priest’s congregation during this challenging time.
