Residents in Central Pattaya’s Nong Or community were left stunned and suspicious after spotting a woman dressed as a police officer, going door-to-door and claiming to collect donations on behalf of the Pattaya Police Station. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, November 5, has raised serious concerns about a new wave of scams hitting local neighbourhoods.

Described as middle-aged, with a conspicuous wig and wearing a vest, the mystery woman reportedly approached locals, asking them to support a charity project of the Pattaya Police Station. The imposter was even seen driving a distinctive grey-brown Toyota pickup truck with the licence plate กค 3083 Nan. Surveillance footage captured her visiting homes, but no one knew her true intentions—until now.

Alarmed by the reports, local media contacted Deputy Police Lieutenant Thongin Panyanam from the Pattaya Police Station. Lieutenant Thongin quickly set the record straight.

“The Pattaya Police Station has no policy of sending officers to collect donations from the public.”

The police officer warned residents that the woman was not affiliated with the police and was likely trying to scam unsuspecting locals for cash.

Police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any encounters with individuals claiming to represent the police in such a way. Locals are advised to refuse any donation requests and to alert the police immediately if similar incidents occur.

The Pattaya Police have started gathering evidence to identify and apprehend this fraudulent “officer,” hoping to prevent any further deception in the area, reported Pattaya Mail.
