A People’s Party MP denied driving at high speed following a collision in the parliament car park building yesterday.
The car accident, which occurred on the B2 floor of the car park, was reported by Thai media yesterday, October 16. The collision reportedly took place in a section of the parking lot reserved for MPs, involving a black sedan and a white Honda Civic sedan.
According to updates on the case, the driver of the black sedan was an official from the Secretariat of the Senate, while the driver of the white sedan was Sirin Sa-nguansin, an MP from the People’s Party. The incident was resolved amicably, with both insurance representatives reaching an agreement.
However, the accident became a topic of discussion on social media due to a rumour suggesting that Sirin was previously warned by his party about his high-speed driving. This led some to speculate that Sirin may have been driving too fast in the car park.
Sirin denied the accusation, stating that he was not speeding in the car park. He explained that he was driving straight when the other driver made a turn and crashed into the right side of his car.
Sirin also emphasised that he had never received a warning letter from his party regarding his driving behaviour. He mentioned that he typically drove at only 80 kilometres per hour and drove even slower in the car park.
Sirin later took to his Facebook account to apologise to the public for the accident and any inconvenience it caused. He also urged the media to focus on the draft Land Act he proposed to Parliament, noting that the discussion of the draft was already postponed for two weeks.
Sirin previously made headlines for physically assaulting his girlfriend in June of last year. The MP admitted his wrongdoing at the time and expressed his willingness to undergo legal proceedings and an investigation by his former party, the Move Forward Party.
