Philadelphia Eagles announce final Jalen Hurts playoff decision after QB suffers worrying concussion injury

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES fans have been holding their breath over the status of Jalen Hurts – who hasn’t played since December 22.

The superstar quarterback has not played since the first quarter of the loss against the Washington Commanders.

Hurts, 26, took a heavy hit in that 36-33 defeat and entered the concussion protocol.

He has still not been cleared ahead of the massive NFL playoff clash against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday – but he is back in practice.

Hurts practiced on Wednesday and reports state it is very likely he will be ready to play on Sunday.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said on Wednesday: “Yeah, he’ll be out there today.”

The final step for Hurts to clear is to complete practice and report no concussion symptoms the next day.

Hurts was a limited participant due to that but teammates were loving what they saw from him.

Right tackle Lane Johnson said Hurts looked: “Really dialed in, sharp and crisp” during his reps.

Right tackle Jordan Mailata added: “I’ve been in this position before with a concussion, and when you miss time, you try and find ways to get back as fast as you can.

“I think he did a great job of dealing with that and coming back as sharp as he did today. I thought he had a phenomenal practice.”

Hurts also caught the big tackle’s attention with his choice of training gear.

The QB was seen wearing no sleeves despite the freezing cold weather in Philadelphia.

Zach Berman of PHLY Sports wrote on X: “Jalen Hurts going with no sleeves in today’s frigid cold weather resonated with his offensive linemen.

“Jordan Mailata noted he walked to the bus in a tank top, the O-linemen couldn’t believe it.”

Mailata ‘likes that mentality,’ according to Berman.

During his weekly radio appearance on Monday, Sirianni also said the Eagles have “so much faith” in Hurts.

“We’ve got so much faith in him and the things he can do,” he said on 94.1 WIP.

“This is why you practice the way we practice. Practice is high intensity.

“We feel like we have a great practice plan and our guys go about their business in practice very game-like.

“That’s where you work out your kinks or anything that you have, just being locked in and focused all week.

“We’ve got a lot of faith in Jalen as he gets ready to play the football game.”

The Packers also have questions at the all-important QB position with Jordan Love also limited in Wednesday’s practice.

He has elbow soreness but should be ready to play on Sunday.

Love said: “We’ll see… I’m hopeful.”
