Pittcon, the world’s premier laboratory science conference and exhibition, will return to bring together the leading experts and companies in the field. The 2025 president is Heather Juzwa of Shimadzu Scientific Instruments. Juzwa has a long history of involvement with Pittcon and says it is among the most special of her career. Of Boston 2025, she says, “I look forward to the opportunity to engage new scholars there, welcome them to the Pittcon family, and continue the traditions we’ve had for years.”
Welcome to Boston
As a hub for scientific innovation, Boston is the perfect location for Pittcon 2025. Boston is also known for its academic centers, such as Harvard University, Massachusetts General Hospital, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Boston is one of the world’s leading biotech centers, home to pharmaceutical companies such as Moderna, which created one of the first COVID-19 vaccines, and Vertex, one of the few biotech companies with a market capitalization of over $100 billion. Kendall Square in Cambridge is home to over 400 startups and was also the birthplace of biotech in Boston, where companies such as Biogen and Amgen are now based.
Pittcon will take place in the upcoming Seaport District, one of Boston’s fastest-growing neighborhoods that is home to state-of-the-art spaces for biotech companies as well as the most technologically advanced convention facility in the world – the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, where Pittcon 2025 will be held.
The Wallace H. Coulter Lecture
The prestigious one Wallace H. Coulter Lecture will be presented this year by Cato T. Laurencin, a pioneer in the field of regenerative engineering and professor in the University of Connecticut Biomedical Engineering Department. Dr. Laurencin has made significant contributions to advances in musculoskeletal regeneration and soft tissue repair through an approach that combines tissue engineering with materials science, stem cell science, and developmental biology. He will discuss this emerging field in his lecture “Regenerative Engineering: The Frontier is Here.”
Short courses
Pittcon’s short courses offer you the opportunity to further your professional development in a variety of areas within the conference tracks, including biomedical engineering, environmental analysis, mass spectrometry, regulatory compliance and statistics. For example, you can learn about sampling and sample preparation for chromatography with Doug Raynie of South Dakota State University or take a crash course in cannabis testing with Jini Glaros of Modern Canna Labs. Or you can advance your career skills with an Open Source Data Analytics Technician Course with Phil Callahan of CSols Inc. The learning opportunities don’t end once the conference is over; from April to December every year you can participate in online courses offered by Pittcon.
Pittcon Expo
A highlight of every Pittcon is exposition. It gives you the opportunity to discover the latest innovations in instrumentation, see new technology up close and find the solutions you need for your laboratory. You can meet with exhibitors to explore options in a range of specialties, including laboratory equipment and automation, electroanalytical techniques and applications, nanotechnology techniques and applications, clinical diagnostics and food analysis. Companies including Bruker, Shimadzu, PerkinElmer, MilliporeSigma, TA Instruments and Metrohm are already confirmed for Pittcon 2025.
