The Princess of Wales will make a grand appearance later today when she will join the rest of the royal family at Sandringham for the traditional Christmas morning walk to church.
Princess Kate, who has had a challenging year so far due to her cancer diagnosis, will delight fans and fashionistas worldwide with her sartorial choices, which never fail to amaze.
The queen-to-be has become a fashion icon in her own right since the moment she got engaged Prince William announced in 2010 – when she created the “Kate Effect”, where her fashion choices were sought after and copied by many and her outfits sold out after her appearances.
Today, according to a fashion expert, the royals are tipped to wow us with their “impeccable Christmas Day fashion choices”. Ahead of the Princess of Wales’ walk, the expert shared what fashion choices the future queen might go for.
Megan Watkins, Head Stylist at SilkFredtold Express.co.uk: “Over the years, she’s shown us a festive wardrobe that’s equally chic, cold-weather appropriate and full of subtle nods to tradition.

“For Christmas 2024, I predict Kate can lean into her love of timeless tailoring with a rich jewel-toned dress, such as emerald green or sapphire blue, paired with gold accents for a touch of fun, festive sparkle.
“Alternatively, she could surprise us with a winter white ensemble that leaned into winter themes.
“Statement accessories, like a structured hat or eye-catching earrings, are likely to complete the look. Given her penchant for wearing clothes back, I wouldn’t be surprised if she brings back a beloved coat, styled with a modern twist, to show her love to sustainable fashion.”
The style expert went on to list five of Kate’s best Christmas looks over the years.

2017 – Miu Miu plaid coat
Ms Watkins labeled Kate’s red and green tartan Miu Miu coat “the perfect festive ensemble” that used traditional Christmas colors while “still feeling modern and fashionable”.
The princess paired the look with a cozy and winter-appropriate Cossack-style hat from Peruvian Connection, a pair of black gloves and black heels, along with a black clutch.
She also enhanced the outfit with gold jewelry.
The expert said: “The playful pattern captured the holiday spirit, and the tailored fit was a masterclass in classic Kate elegance.”

2018 – Catherine Walker burgundy coat
The Princess of Wales deep burgundy coat by Catherine Walker was a big hit according to the style expert, who praised it for its sophisticated color and structured silhouette.
Kate paired the rest of her look with a custom headband by Jane Taylor, burgundy heels and burgundy gloves.
She completed the look with a burgundy clutch and gold diamond hoop earrings.
Ms Watkins said: “Kate paired it with matching gloves and shoes, proving her love of tonal attire. The choice reflected her sense of understated glamour.”

2019 – The gray Catherine Walker coat with fur trim
Kate chose her beloved designer again a year later when she wore a gray coat that had a fur collar.
She paired the look with emerald accessories like her hat and shoes.
The expert said: “Chosen for a timeless, vintage-inspired look, this coat combined soft gray tones with a fur collar and cuffs for a cozy yet polished look.
“It’s a perfect example of how Kate balances practicality with royal elegance.”

2022 – Alexander McQueen forest green coat
In 2022, the royal family chose a dark green coat by their wedding designer – Alexander McQueen on Christmas Day. She paired the look with a feather hat and tan accessories, which the expert labeled as “effortlessly regal while still being festive”.
She paired the look with chocolate brown accessories, such as a pair of leather gloves, a clutch and some chunky heeled boots.
Watkins said: “This deep green coat was a nod to nature and tradition.
“Green is a color Kate often wears for its versatility, classic appeal and perhaps because she knows it looks good on her.”

2022 – The burgundy Eponine London ensemble
That same year, when she attended her annual carol concert at Westminster Abbey in early December, Kate opted for burgundy again when she wore an Eponine London sheath dress and accessorized it with gold accents.
Watkins said: “Kate wore a stunning burgundy dress by Eponine London, accessorised with gold drop earrings.
“The bold yet classic color choice was a reflection of her growing confidence in vibrant hues, perfectly suited to her role as the Princess of Wales.”
The Princess of Wales will no doubt delight us all again in just a few hours when she makes her last public appearance for 2024.
