GROCERY goers will have to plan ahead, as Publix will shut its doors for 24 hours in the coming weeks.
All 1,300 of its locations will be impacted by the shopping blackout as will other major grocers such as Walmart.

Thanksgiving this year falls on November 28.
To commemorate the holiday, many US retailers and grocery stores will close shop.
Publix is just one of many stores that honor the national holiday.
The grocer confirmed to The U.S. Sun that all locations will shut their doors on the 28th to provide employees time to celebrate with loved ones.
The grocery store also generally closes early the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and is open during regular hours on Black Friday.
Those looking to cook a grand feast for Thanksgiving will need to prepare in advance, as many other grocery stores will also be unavailable on the day of the holiday.
For example, Walmart has shut its doors on Thanksgiving since 2020 and will do so again in the coming weeks.
Target will likewise be closed on the holiday for the fifth consecutive year since the pandemic.
The store announced last November its plans to permanently shut its doors on Thanksgiving at all locations unless otherwise stated.
“Staying closed for the first time on Thanksgiving Day 2020 helped us take care of our team and guests during the pandemic,” said Target CEO Brian Cornell in a statement.
“But once I heard from team members how much they appreciated that time with their families, it was an easy decision to make the policy permanent.
“And our store teams have had that time off ever since.”
Other grocery stores such as Trader Joe’s, Aldi, BJ’s, and Costco will not be open on Thanksgiving.
Additionally, many popular retailers will be off-limits to shoppers on the national holiday.
This includes stores such as Marshalls, Best Buy, Macy’s, TJ Maxx, Home Depot, JCPenny, and Kohl’s.

Although many retailers and grocers plan to close shop on November 28, a few stores will remain open for last-minute shoppers.
For example, select Albertsons locations will be open for part of the day on Thanksgiving.
Other grocery stores such as Food Lion, H.E.B., Kroger, and Whole Foods will also be open to shoppers with reduced hours.
Additionally, retailers including Bass Pro Shops, Big Lots, CVS, Family Dollar, and Rite Aid will be available for shopping on Thanksgiving Day.
