Sam’s Club refused my return after I spent $487 – everything was unopened but it all came down a manager’s new policy

A SAM’S Club shopper tried to make a return but employees refused to process it.

The customer said on Facebook that she was also denied a refund for the products that she no longer needed.

In a recent incident at a Sam’s Club in Pueblo, Colorado, Amanda Renee encountered frustration when attempting to return excess purchases following her son’s graduation party, she shared in a Facebook post.

Amanda had purchased 24 canisters of Mixed Nuts and 12 canisters of M&Ms to create treat boxes for guests, ensuring she had more than enough for 100 boxes.

Despite Sam’s Club’s advertised 365-day return policy on unopened items, Amanda was denied the return of unused, unopened products totaling $487.00.

According to Amanda, the store cited a new manager’s decision to cease returns of excess purchases.

This directly contradicts the company’s return guarantee.

Responding to Amanda’s post, Sam’s Club’s official social media team requested her membership number and contact information to address the issue privately.

She responded to the prompt, saying that she’d sent a private message.

Meanwhile, Sam’s Club wrote, “Thank you for that information. We are sorry to hear about your experience and understand your frustration. How many canisters of each item need to be returned?”

Amanda did not respond to the inquiry, and it is unknown whether her issue was resolved.

Sam’s Club, known for its membership-based warehouse model, typically offers a wide range of products at bulk prices, accompanied by a robust return policy designed to enhance customer satisfaction.

However, instances like Amanda’s highlight potential challenges in maintaining uniformity across stores, particularly when new managerial decisions impact longstanding policies.

Sam’s Club emphasizes customer satisfaction with a comprehensive return policy tailored to accommodate various purchase scenarios, as stated on its website.

Members enjoy flexibility with returns, although specific categories have distinct timeframes.

Electronics and major appliances, for instance, are eligible for returns within 90 days, while commercial heavy equipment and motorsports items must be returned within 30 days.

Cell phones, both prepaid and postpaid, fall under a 14-day return window.
