SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) — The Butterfly House & Aquarium in Sioux Falls is hosting holiday fun for all ages today. There will be crafts and activities from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. including face-painting, a hot cocoa bar and pictures with Santa Claus. There will also be animal encounters at 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Kids can meet Santa Claus on the third floor lobby of the Washington Pavilion from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Santa will be taking a lunch break from 1 to 1:30 p.m. There will also be workshops on hot chocolate gift bags and wood block snowmen from 1-3 p.m.
Canton Lutheran Church is hosting A Night at the Stable living nativity at 5:30, 6 and 6:30 p.m. A soup supper will be served from 5-7 p.m. A Christmas Cantata is at 7 p.m.
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls is hosting a St. Lucia Festival, celebrating community, light, family, children and good food. The festival goes from 7-8:30 p.m
Holidays on Holbrook in Sioux Falls features Santa Claus handing out candy canes and photo ops with Santa and The Grinch. The hours are 6-9 p.m. The event is located at 5700 S Holbrook Avenue.
Tuba Christmas features two performances in Sioux Falls. The first is at Lifescape on West 26th Street at 1 p.m. and at the downtown Coliseum at 3 p.m.
Show Choirs for both Roosevelt and Washington High Schools are performing concerts this evening. The Roosevelt choir performs at 5:30 p.m. Washington’s concert is at 6 p.m. Each concert will be followed by a dinner.
Christmas at the Capitol features nearly 100 decorated trees inside the capitol building in Pierre. It’s open to the public every day from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. through December 26th, including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Admission is free.
Winter Wonderland features more than 25 miles of lights and other holiday decorations on display at Falls Park. The nights are on from 5 pm. to midnight through January 5th. Admission is free.
Kids can visit Santa Claus at Lewis Drug stores today. Santa will be at the Lewis at 26th & Sycamore from 9 a.m. to noon. Then, he’s off to the Lewis at 37th & Minnesota from 2-5 p.m.
AMC Collective is hosting a Rainbow Loom Bracelet Make & Take. Stop in and make a fun bracelet for yourself or a holiday gift from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It costs $1 per bracelet.
Borderlands Horse Sanctuary is hosting a Light the Night fundraiser from 4 to 9:30 p.m. at Buffalo Ridge Brewing in Hartford, SD. Participants will light luminaries in memory of loved ones at dusk. The cost is a $5 donation.
The Sioux Valley Model Engineers Society is hosting an open house at their club building on the north side of the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds. You can check out South Dakota’s largest permanent model railroad from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and Sunday. Admission is free.
The Ranch Rodeo Extravaganza features events including wild cow milking, trailer loading and a relay race. The rodeo gets underway at 6:30 p.m. in the Expo Center.
It’s opening weekend at Great Bear Ski Valley in Sioux Falls. Skiing and snowboarding hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
