The video, which has racked up more than 250,000 views since Thursday, has left many of his followers seething, with people flocking to the comments to express their outrage.

In the clip, Shaun Paul addresses his fellow TikToker saying: “You need to start carrying a tool, bro. You need to start carrying a blade. See if you had a blade in that situation, they’d have probably still jumped you, but it’s the principle. Start carrying tools, mate.”

Angry Scots parents have slammed the young man for his reckless and dangerous message, fearing it could lead to more violence and put lives at risk.

One furious dad told The Scottish Sun: “I am horrified by this. I caught my 12-year-old son watching this and I’d hate to think this boy would have an influence on him.

“There is already far too much knife crime in Scotland. It’s also a failing of these social media giants too, allowing people to post these videos without removing them.”

One furious user wrote: “This is bad advice. Consider your audience.”

Another added: “Don’t carry knives. People get plugged. You’ve got wee guys watching you.”

A third said: “You shouldn’t even joke about carrying. It’s impacted so many lives. I know you don’t mean harm, but you haven’t really thought this one through properly.”

But Shaun Paul has since apologised for his post, saying it was meant as a joke that he hadn’t thought through.

He told The Scottish Sun: “I was just having a laugh when I posted the video.

“Matty and I are close and know each other personally, and it was all meant to be a joke, but I can totally understand why it might not have been taken that way.

“I didn’t think it through, and I should have. I just want to clarify that I would never encourage people to carry knives.

“I wouldn’t my young followers listening to that and thinking it’s right.

“People can lose their lives over things like this, and it’s not something I would ever advise.

“I’m care-experienced. I’ve turned my whole life around, and I talk about my mental health and anxiety on my TikTok, and that’s something I’d rather my followers listen to.”

He later posted a video to his account apologising for the video, saying he was disappointed in himself and admitted being “in the wrong”.

In the clip, Shaun Paul said: “Right guys, I messed up. As you can see, Matty’s talking about a video that I posted. I posted a video talking about how Matty got jumped and he should be carrying a blade.

” I said it as a joke, but at the same time, I’m forgetting how much of a big audience I have.

“And people could think that’s cool if I’m talking about it and then go out and carry a knife and then potentially stab someone, kill someone. You know what I mean?

“Or they could go out with a knife. and if you’re going out with a knife with intent, then anything could happen.

TikToker reveals his experiences with knife crime

SHAUN Paul posted another video to his account apologising for the previous post.

He admitted he was “in the wrong” for what he said and urged those watching to never carry a blade.

The social media creator even revealed his own experiences with knife crime, telling followers his stepbrother is serving a jail sentence for attacking someone with a knife.

He added:  “My stepbrother is in the jail, he’s serving time now. He was in an argument with a boy and he ended up giving him 22 stitches from the back of his head with what you call a zombie knife. One of the big knives.

“He’s ruined his life. I don’t speak to him anymore. He’s in the jail, you know what I mean? I look at him a bit differently because of why he’s doing that, you know what I mean?

“There’s evil people out there, but he is not an evil person. But if you carry something, there’s intent to use it.

“Of course there’s evil people out there, all over the world there is, but you are not evil. So don’t carry tools, guys.

“Avoid violence at all costs, genuinely. You don’t see me fighting, do you? You don’t see me with marks on my face? You don’t see me ever getting into a battle?

“You don’t see me having drama with people? That’s because violence is not the answer. If you can avoid violence, then avoid it, guys. Thank you for listening.”

“You’re not ruining their life, just the person you stabbed. You’re ruining their life, their family‘s life, and your own life when you get to jail. So I’m just posting this video as an apology.

“I posted the video, of course I was having a laugh, but at the same time, should I have joked about that? No, because my audience. It varies from age. Young, older, any age could look at that and think it’s cool.

“And guys, I’m telling you right now, coming from the cool kid from school, carrying knives, carrying weapons, carrying tools is not cool. You’re actually a loser if you carry a tool.

“I know when I’m in the wrong, and I am in the wrong.”

“I’m disappointed in myself, guys. I’m disappointed, but I’m coming on and I’m making this video just to show you guys that I know when I’m in the wrong, and I am in the wrong.”

The incident that prompted Shaun Paul’s response involved Matthew McAlonan, who was attacked in Glasgow city centre while out with his girlfriend.

The 19-year-old, from Wishaw, spoke out about the situation, saying, “Every single influencer needs to be really careful with their actions. Because whether we like it or not, we do have a massive influence.

“All I can do is make sure my audience and my platform know that such actions are unacceptable. And it’s not something I would ever advise my audience.”
