STARBUCKS’ classic red cups are a tell-tale sign that the holiday season is upon us.
However, the brand’s latest reusable addition has sparked a debate among fans.

Starbucks released their holiday menu and cup collection on November 7th.
So if you’re looking to help the environment while enjoying a peppermint mocha, you can also pick up a festive tumbler.
The collection includes a gemstone gold cup for $24.95 and a $29.95 red-studded cup.
However, it’s the $54.95 Berry Pink Glitter Stanley Tumbler that caused the real stir online.
The 40-ounce holiday cup, which is designed to “bring some cheer to each sip,” was the cause of debate among Reddit users.
In a page dedicated to Stanley cups, one poster shared an image of the controversial cup.
“I wasn’t into the color, but the word ‘glitter’ got me, I hope it’s prettier in person,” they wrote in the caption.
However, commenters were more concerned about the color of the cup rather than the glitter detail.
“I need to see the cup in person, I see pictures where it’s pink others wine or dark red-colored,” said one person.
They joked that the tumbler has become “the ‘blue/gold dress’ of Stanley cups.”
The dress debate first went viral in 2015, after a Tumblr user shared the mind-boggling image.
While shopping for a dress to wear an acquaintance of the poster took a photo of a striped look.
However, their group of friends soon began debating the color of the stripes.
While some people saw blue and black stripes, others swore it was actually white and gold.
It was eventually confirmed to be blue and black but not before everyone on the internet had their say first.
How many Starbucks are there?
The company’s name was pulled from Herman Melville’s Moby Dick – Starbucks – which prompted its logo as a siren of the sea.
Nationally, there is about one Starbucks for every 21,400 residents.
According to their website, Starbucks’ initial store was located in Seattle’s historic Pike Place Market.
It was here where Starbucks opened its “first store, offering fresh-roasted coffee beans, tea, and spices from around the world” for customers to take home.
Since then, it’s expanded to more than 15,500 US locations and more than 34,000 total worldwide locations.
It has more than 34,000 stores globally, split nearly evenly between company-owned and licensed locations.
Writing about the color of the Starbucks cup, the original Reddit user shared her doubts.
“Even though this photo is ‘official’, I still can’t trust it. Yes, need to see it in person,” they wrote.
“Yeah, many versions different shades. Definitely need to see it in person.”
“I can’t wait to see it in person because of all of the different IRL photos I have seen of it, it looks different,” agreed another person.
Others questioned how glittery the Stanley tumbler could actually be.
“Hard to see in the picture but there definitely is glitter,” wrote one shopper.
