Netflix has officially announced it Stranger Things season 5 will air sometime in 2025 – and confirmed which year it will be filmed.
Revealing the news on Stranger Things Day — aka November 6, the in-universe date Will Byers disappeared in 1983 — Netflix revealed that the hugely popular show will be returning sometime next year. The streaming titan also confirmed that it will take place in the fall of 1987 (that’s fall for non-US readers). Season 5 will thus occur approximately 18 months after Stranger Things season 4 ends.
The streaming giant did not confirm when Stranger ThingsThe fifth and final season was actually set to debut, but since filming wouldn’t wrap until December, we already knew that Stranger Things Season 5 would not be released in 2024. Still, it’s good to know that we won’t have to wait until 2026 to see the show’s fifth season.
These revelations were not the only ones to greet Stranger Things fans during this year’s edition of the franchise’s annual celebration. Netflix also chose to reveal the episode titles for all of Season 5’s chapters, which you can check out below. Let fans theorize about what they’re teasing, especially Episode 2’s title, let’s begin!

It is not the first time that the world has been best streaming service has released episodic hints about Season 5. In November 2022, Netflix revealed the title of the upcoming season’s opening episode, prompting me to four major theories about what Season 5’s first episode title could really mean. However, the addition of the other seven episodic names might make me reevaluate what I assumed from Episode 1’s title.
Today’s reveals are the most notable bits of information we’ve gotten in a while about one of those best netflix shows‘ fifth part. In fact, with the hugely successful sci-fi horror drama series’ main storyline wrapping up next year, Netflix is being extremely cautious about pulling back the curtain on Season 5.
That said, some interesting bits of information have been teased by those involved with the series and the streamer himself. On July 16, Stranger Things 5s very first teaser revealed new characters, fan-favorite team-ups and another time jumpwhich has been confirmed by the aforementioned revelation from the late 80s. Before that behind-the-scenes look at season 5 was released, we only knew of one new cast as well, with Terminator star Linda Hamilton joins Stranger Things 5 list in June 2023. However, Netflix’s behind-the-scenes peak also confirmed that Nell Fisher, Alex Breaux and Jake Connelly were also part of the proceedings.
Meanwhile, two weeks earlier, Maya Hawke, who plays Robin, suggested that season 5 will consist of “basically eight movies” – a statement that suggests the upcoming season’s episodes will be very, very long. It sounds like Stranger Things Season 5 will be the show’s deadliest yettoo, though Eleven actor Millie Bobby Brown has admitted that she doesn’t really want her character to die after previously joking about such a possibility.
Excited like me and everyone else Stranger Things damn about all this news, we’re still no closer to actually seeing any movies to really whip us all into a frenzy. Despite that hackers claiming to have pirated Season 5’s first three episodeswhich may have been their way of forcing Netflix to release a teaser trailer earlier than expected. If that was their goal, it didn’t work – Netflix instead chose to release another behind-the-scenes look at Season 5 during Geeked Week 2024 which did not tell anything new. So the long wait for a proper trailer continues.
