“Obviously managers will probably try to find a way to bring him back at some point and he would no doubt consider a return.
“But at the moment, he just has too much to juggle on the side of the competition. It’s not just the announced projects that he’s working on, there are other opportunities in the pipeline, which he can now explore further.”
However, Johannes has firmly hit back at the story, calling it a “lie” in a new post on Instagram.
In the post Johannes wrote: “I’m not going anywhere! The story is not true – I love @bbcstrictly and I want to do this beautiful show as long as they want me – and the body will allow it. I have Kinky Boots and other work in the pipeline yes but nothing will take me away from me love you all Jojo Xx”

The message was posted alongside a video, in which Johannes is seen singing in the studio, adding that he is “going nowhere” and that “it’s a lie”.
Johannes’ busy schedule in the coming months includes making his musical theater debut in a Kinky Boots UK Tourin addition to working on a film adaptation of his memoirs, JoJo: Home at last.
Johannes has been a regular on Strictly since joining in 2018, and has danced with celebrity partners Catherine Tyldesley, Caroline Quentin, John Whaite, Ellie Taylor and Annabel Croft.
This year he is partnered with Montell Douglas, where the pair consistently scores highly top list.
Last time they got 35 for theirs Waltz to I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houstonplaced fourth in the ranking.
