The older sister of T. J. Holmes was not best pleased to discover the broadcaster risking further injury this week after his Bank of America Chicago Marathon calamity.
At the recent run, ex-CNN star Holmes couldn’t steer himself out of the way of a walker on the track and the pair collided. His IT band was badly injured, causing him to seek medical assistance and drop out of the event with only 5 miles to go.
Fast forward just two days and Holmes was already back in his luminous running trainers preparing for next month’s New York City Marathon.
Via Instagram Stories, he went on to reveal how sister Tish jokingly scolded him when he told her.
In the first of two uploads, the 47-year-old videoed part of his “little 1-mile test run” soundtracked to Queen’s classic tune “Don’t Stop Me Now.”
“Sister already ripped me a new one this morning. I was itching to get back out,” Holmes added as the caption alongside his shrugging avatar.
Then came a screenshot from the siblings’ text exchange, which Holmes began with a snap of his run route. “That was about 20 minutes ago. Was DYING to go run,” he wrote to Tish underneath.
“TJ.R!!!!!!” she replied, referring to her brother’s birth name of Loutelious ‘T. J.’ Holmes Jr.
He came back with: “Wow. Haven’t hit me with a “T. Jr” in a while”, to which she pointed out Holmes hadn’t “been that big of a Dumb A** in a while!!!” before asking him how he was feeling.
“Aren’t siblings AWESOME! #bigsisTish,” he captioned that one.
Meanwhile, over on his and partner Amy Robach‘s podcast, Holmes became emotional while recalling her heroics at the Chicago Marathon.
“I can’t think of anybody besides my mom who has taken that kind of care of me when I was desperate,” he said through a breaking voice. “You sacrificed something that was … Jesus, that was very important to you in order to stay with me.
“You were fully trained for a marathon and you could’ve finished and you did not finish because of my bum a** yesterday, so… I loved you before we started, I didn’t know how possible it was to love and adore and appreciate you more but I’ll say it here again, just thank you for what you did for me.”
When the knee of Holmes began to swell and he fell behind in the race, fellow marathon runner Robach turned back to keep him company through the pain.
