It is a tradition to have the male steer cheer on the team before and during their games.
However, the Longhorns have been told he will not be able to appear at the CFP Quarterfinal.
They are taking on the Arizona State Sun Devils on 1 January, New Year’s Day, at 1pm.
The showdown will take place the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of NFL side the Atlanta Falcons.
But the organizers of the fixture have cited safety reasons for banning him for the key game.
And they have been forced to release a statement on X revealing the reasons why.
“We love all the great traditions of college football, and no doubt, Bevo is one of the best,” it read.
“But the unfortunate reality is there is simply not enough room on the sidelines of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
“With the constraints of the stadium and prioritizing the safety of Bevo.
It went on: “The players, all the network cameras, support staff, cheerleaders, and photographers, we will not be able to have Bevo on the field.”
Longhorns fans reacted with anger at the decision, demanding to know “why they have done this?”.
One fan added: “Texas should opt out and force their hand.”
Another said: “Can we stop having games at a stadium that isn’t big enough to hold… a cow?
“It’s not fair to UT to consistently have to play in a stadium that continuously disallows their mascot.”
NFL on Netflix
Netflix will be the global home of the NFL on Christmas Day this year.
The streaming service will show two special holiday games live around the world.
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs kick off the double header against the Pittsburgh Steelers at 1 pm ET.
And they’ll be followed by the Baltimore Ravens at the Houston Texans from 4.30 pm ET.
That game will also feature a halftime show from Beyonce in her home town of Houston, Texas.
Netflix also confirmed their broadcast team for the day, led by Fox NFL commentator Greg Olsen and former Good Morning Football host Kay Adams.
A third added: “Arizona st can’t bring their mascot either then.
“Billion dollar franchise and didn’t think of adding more room on sidelines.”
And a suppoerter commented: “One of the newest stadiums on the planet built with the intentions of hosting more college football games
” Didn’t take into consideration one of those most traditional aspects of college sports, live mascots.”
Bevo was also barred from the SEC Championship game against Georgia earlier this month.
The same safety reasons were cited for him not being allowed on the sidelines.
The Longhorns clash with Arizona State is sold out, with fans traveling from across the country to watch.
