A Thai nurse contacted the police after discovering the dead body of a stranger in the back seat of her car, which was parked outside a hospital in the Isaan province of Sisaket.
Nantawadee Khunwatee, a nurse at Sisaket Hospital, reported the shocking discovery to Mueang Sisaket Police Station officers at around 6pm yesterday, October 21. After finishing her shift, she returned to her hatchback parked outside the hospital, ready to go home.
To her surprise, Nantawadee noticed a woman sitting in the back seat of her car. Upon checking, she found that the woman was already dead, leaving her in shock. Nantawadee did not know the woman and had never seen her before.
Nantawadee speculated that she might have forgotten to lock her car doors in the morning, which allowed the stranger to enter the vehicle.
The deceased was later identified as 53 year old Boonthita Sirikul. Boonthita was wearing a blue striped shirt, long trousers, and sandals. She was found sitting with her head resting on her chest on the back seat. Her name was listed in a missing person report filed by her family earlier that day.
Boonthita’s family told MGR Online that she had been suffering from brain atrophy for over two years. On the day of the incident, one of her relatives took Boonthita to the hospital and left her alone briefly while using the bathroom.
When the relative returned, Boonthita disappeared, leading the family to file a missing person report with the police. The family did not suspect foul play in her death and declined to request an autopsy.
A similar incident was reported in the Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan province near Bangkok in January. In that case, a Thai man broke into a stranger’s house and, shockingly, committed suicide inside.
The family was left horrified after they witnessed the man stabbing himself in the stomach and repeatedly hitting himself with a hammer and later slitting his own throat.
