The Traitors beating Love Island and Big Brother by millions is down to single thing says Uncloaked host Ed Gamble

ED Gamble has revealed exactly why The Traitors is the biggest reality show on TV, beating established shows like Love Island and Big Brother.

The hit BBC series returned last week and pulled in an incredible five million viewers for its launch episode.

Last year Big Brother’s series averaged 1.67million viewers, while Love Island pulled in 1.14m.

The Traitors fans have watched Claudia Winkleman welcome 22 new contestants to the castle for the murder mystery game.

For funnyman Ed, he says the success of the show is simply down to the expert casting by producers.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun, he said: “I think the key is reinventing some aspects but keeping what everyone loves the same and just the casting is so perfect.

“I think they’ve found people who really care about the game that want to play the game.

“It’s not a reality show in the sense that I never get the feeling that people are on the show just because they want to be on telly.

“They are on The Traitors because they want to play The Traitors and I think that they do a very good job of finding those people.”

Last year The Sun revealed how Beeb bosses had green-lit a celeb version of the hit show.

In August last year Beeb boss of unscripted Kate Phillips confirmed the story and revealed filming would start this year.

Last month we told how Danny Dyer has been approached for the show, after the EastEnders star turned down offers from Strictly and I’m A Celebrity.

Other names linked to the show include Alan Carr, Stephen Fry, Tom Daley, Clare Balding, Daisy May Cooper and journalist Robert Peston.

The Traitors Uncloaked is available on BBC Sounds or the visual version can be watched on BBC iPlayer.

How does The Traitors work and who hosts it?

The Traitors first launched in the UK in 2022, after the Dutch format was acquired by the BBC.

Claudia Winkleman is the show’s host, and has now hosted all three series to date.

How does it work?

It is a reality game show that involves 22 contestants, and some of them are chosen to be The Traitors.

The Traitors sees a group of contestants taking part in “the ultimate game of truth and deception”.

The group of contestants are competing for the chance to walk away with a huge cash prize.

While navigating through a series of challenges, the team are also tasked with figuring out who the Traitors are in the group (usually three contestants).

Each night, the Traitors gather to “eliminate” one of the Faithful, removing them from the competition

Meanwhile, the traitors can be “banished” if they’re successfully outed as a traitor by a faithful.

The winners of the show are either the Traitor who remains undetected or the Faithfuls if they successfully eliminate all the Traitors.

The prize sees the winner could get £120K.
