Three Texas people hospitalized in I-70 tractor-trailer crash, one seriously injured

One person was seriously injured and two others were injured in a single tractor-trailer crash on I-70 Thursday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia was traveling east on I-70, near the 102 mile marker.

Records show the semi truck was driving near a work zone when it switched from the lane to the passing lane and slid off the left side of the roadway.

The driver overcorrected as he returned to the road and overturned and went off the left side where it hit a median wire and came to rest, blocking both lanes of westbound I-70.

The truck’s trailer hitch became disconnected during the incident and came to rest on its side, blocking the eastbound lanes of I-70.

The driver, a 41-year-old woman, was seriously injured in the crash, while a 2-year-old boy passenger was moderately injured and another 43-year-old male adult suffered only minor injuries. All three occupants of the vehicle were noted to be from Little Elm, Texas.

All occupants of the tractor trailer were transported to University Hospital by Cooper County EMS.

MSHP noted that no one in the vehicle was wearing seat belts when the crash occurred.
