Is Tom Brady trying to tell us something with this vague Instagram story? Because the timing seems…pointed.
Not unlike the way Millennial teens used to update their Facebook statuses with emo song lyrics after a breakup or a dramatic fall out with their friend group, on October 28, the former NFL quarterback posted an IG story with a picture of a sunset over The Chicks’ cover of the Fleetwood Mac song, “Landslide.” This came days after it was reported that Brady’s ex-wife, Gisele Bündchen, is pregnant with her new boyfriend Joaquim Valente’s baby.
Along with three heart emojis, Brady wrote over the photo lyrics from the song reading, “Oh, mirror in the sky, what is love? Can the child within my heart rise above? Can I sail through the changin’ ocean tides?” No explanation or follow up was provided.
It’s hardly the first time Tom Brady has gotten esoteric on social media. In 2023, for instance, he posted a context-free Ralph Waldo Emerson quote about the nature of “success.” Which he just happened to post hours after Bündchen’s Vanity Fair interview—which included details about their divorce—went live.
But hey, maybe Brady just really likes this song about moving on after a difficult breakup and it has nothing to do with his own experience of moving on after a difficult breakup.
