TRADER Joe’s shoppers are upset about a popular sauce that’s been discontinued.

The company-branded enchilada sauce has disappeared from store shelves, and customers are concerned after a manager weighed in.

An assistant general manager at Trader Joe’s confirmed the discontinuation in a comment on Facebook a few months ago.

THE POST

Trader Joe’s primarily sells its own brands of groceries.

The concept has grown popular as it allows the store to sell cheaper goods — with the downside of offering little variety within grocery items.

Since its products are unique to the store, when the company removes a product from shelves it may be impossible to ever see again.

The news about the enchilada sauce broke on a Facebook page about all items the company discontinued.

Shopper Maia posted to ask about the sauce months back.

“Does anyone know if they’ve discontinued their enchilada sauce?” she asked with a sad face emoji. “I haven’t been able to tell if it’s out everywhere or just at my local stores.”

“Hoping the worst case is just a shortage and not discontinuing,” she said — this time with a sobbing emoji.

“If you liked it, they probably discontinued it,” one user quipped.

But a user who appears to be a manager at a TJ’s confirmed the bad news.

“It was discontinued,” she said. “However, I saw in the order yesterday that a new one is coming soon. Not sure how similar it will be to the old one though.”

Another user, whose profile did not include a job title, said it was because the company was sourcing a new vendor.

She said the replacement would be available soon. Sure enough, the company already has its new enchilada sauce for sale.

Others were also upset about the loss.

“It was so good & the only reason I went to Trader Joe’s,” one commenter said. “They told me it’s been discontinued too. Hopefully it will return.”

MORE DISCONTINUED ITEMS

Trader Joe’s pulls items from shelves for a variety of reasons, but shoppers are often surprised by the change.

Customers recently reacted to the disappearance of a four-cheese pastry.

“Dang these were our go to winter weekend treat during early lockdown,” someone wrote a thread online. “They were yummy happiness.”

TJ’s riced cauliflower has also vanished from some shelves.

An employee recently confirmed the disappearance of a breakfast staple.
