Senior actor Umesh Ghadge who is presently seen in the Star Plus show Advocate Anjali Awasthi, in the role of Raghav Singh Rajput, hails his passion for acting as well as direction which has paved the way for him to switch between the two successfully, based on opportunities he has got in his career. The actor, known for his acting prowess in projects Made In Heaven, Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story, Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin etc, has directed projects like Life Sahi Hai, Maid In India etc.

Now that he is holding the front as an actor, he is enjoying this phase of his in television. “My first show on TV was Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin where I was told to have a track of about one month. But I ended up doing the show for a year. When I got this role in Advocate Anjali Awasthi, I was happy to take it. TV has been kind to me.”

Talking about his initial days, the actor avers, “For most of my career, I have been behind the camera. I grew up in a regular Marathi family. When I was into theatre, I wanted to be an actor as well as a director. Hence, when I wanted to make the switch, it was easier for me.”

Talking about the show Advocate Anjali Awasthi, Umesh tells us, “I am enjoying my journey with the show. The scope I am getting with this show is rarely seen on television. When I was narrated about the show, I realized that this was not a normal TV show. Certainly, Advocate Anjali Awasthi has lived up to the expectations of its original script, Advocate Geetha LLB, which is even today doing well.”

“This is not the normal Saas-Bahu saga that we usually see on TV. In fact, you can even call it a Sasur-Bahu show, as Anjali will eventually get married into the Rajput family,” he goes on to add.

Talking about how well the show has been doing in the ratings chart right from its first week of inception, the actor states, “The show has been received very well. From its first week, the show has had a TVR beyond 2 which is exceptional. The best part is that we have sustained the good rating week after week.”

Ask him about the social media banter that followed post the launch of Advocate Anjali Awasthi, about a few actors in the show having a strong Bengali accent in their dialogue delivery, and the actor agrees to the buzz that prevailed. “Yes, I do follow social media. There was indeed this remark that went around in the beginning. The lead girl in the show is a Bengali and we have at least six of our actors who are Bengalis. Every language has its own tonality.”

“But the manner in which the show has fared has literally suppressed all of these remarks now. I have to tell you that audience is forgiving when they like the content. We can say a lot of things about the quality of a product, but when the content is high, the audience will get hooked. This is what happened to our show as well. Now, I guess these dialect styles have become unique to our show, and the people have got used to it.”

On the court sequences that have created a lot of positive buzz, Umesh states, “Our show has been high on drama in every episode. You can say the love story is on the back foot now. It is the courtroom drama between Anjali Awasthi and the Rajputs that will gain prominence now. They will bring huge fireworks and the case will be a top-notch watch for the audience.”

Best of luck!!
