UPDATE: Holden Duncan ‘found safe’

SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — A 12-year-old Crofton, Nebraska boy that went missing on Monday has been found safe, the Knox County Sherriff’s office confirmed to KELOLAND News.

Knox County, Nebraska Sheriff’s Office confirmed on social media that he was found by a local farmer approximately 5 miles north of Crofton Nebraska.

The farmer informed Sheriff’s Office that he had found Holden (Duncan) Ouding hiding in a shelter belt. The local farmer fixed Holden a sandwich to eat. Law-enforcement then picked him up at that location.

The Sheriff’s Office said the plan is to finish the investigation and make sure that Holden is medically stable and good to go home and reunite with his family as soon as possible.

Holden had last been seen in the area of the Crofton High School at 4:15 p.m. on October 21. He was reported missing at 9:50 p.m. the same day.

According to the release from the Sheriff’s Office, this was not the first time Holden has not come home after school.

The search was conducted by organizations in the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Nebraska Game & Parks Commission, Nebraska State Patrol, Yankton County Search and Rescue, Bloomfield & Lindy Fire and Rescue, Santee Fire and Rescue, Yankton Police Department.

Dixon County Sheriff’s Office K9 and many others coordinated a search of the City of Crofton and the surrounding countryside on foot and in the air utilizing drones and a helicopter on October 23rd. The FBI had also been contacted.
