SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — An employee shot a supervisor inside the Avantara nursing home in Milbank on Wednesday, Attorney General Marty Jackley said in a KELOLAND interview.
Jackely said the victim, a woman, was shot in the nose and had minor injuries. The employee has been arrested, he said.
The shooting was over a conflict at work and one shot was fired, Jackley said.
The suspect, a woman, was apprehended trying to leave the facility as emergency response was quick, Jackley said.
The incident was reported at about 11:47 a.m. Wednesday.
Grant County Emergency Management said in a Facebook post at about 1:30 p.m. that a suspect was in custody and there was no threat to the public.
Tony Mangan with the South Dakota Attorney General’s Office said the South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident.
