WATCH: Native Americans’ Day parade in DTSF

SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — KELOLAND News is livestreaming the Native Americans’ Day parade in downtown Sioux Falls.

The parade starts at 11 a.m. Monday. Before the parade, a fun run starts at 10:45 a.m. You’ll be able to see the parade in the video player above.

You can also see the start of the parade on KELOLAND’s downtown Live Cam.

The Grand Marshall for the parade is Ellen Medicine Horn.

The parade will go north down Phillips to Falls Park for a Wacipi at 1 p.m.

South Dakota was the first state to officially celebrate Native Americans’ Day on the second Monday in October annually. In 1989, Governor George Mickelson proposed that South Dakota change the holiday to Native Americans’ Day. The legislature made it law in 1990.

In addition to the parade, there are a variety of events across the state.

KELOLAND News will have more coverage from Monday’s parade online and on-air.
