SmackDown GM Nick Aldis introduced the Women’s United States Championship and later declared a tournament that finally culminated at Saturday Night’s Main Event on Dec. 14.

Now, after a highly-contested match between Chelsea Green and Michin, America’s colors are Red, White, and Green.

It was a hard-fought match, with Michin having to battle both Green and her tag team partner, Piper Niven. However, Michin was able to even the odds.

Still, it wasn’t enough to claim victory. Green was able to come out on to after transitioning off of the turnbuckle into her finishing move, the unprettier.

Both Green and Michin more than earned their spot in the finals for the Women’s US Title.

Green defeated Women’s Tag Team Champion Bianca Belair and Blair Davenport in a triple threat match before defeating former WWE Women’s Champion Bayley in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, Michin defeated Piper Niven and Lash Legend in the quarterfinals before taking on Ms. Money in the Bank Tiffany Stratton in the semifinals.

No matter who won tonight, Michin and Green were the right choice to kick the Women’s US Championship’s life off. Not only are they both excellent wrestlers, but they have an excellent rivalry.

Both superstars have been rivals for a large part of their career. Most recently, Michin came out on top of Green in a fantastic Dumpster Match. However, it goes back even farther than that.

Green and Michin both first battled each other on Jan. 7, 2016, at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). Green was making her TNA debut only under her first name while Michin, real name Stephanie Lee, wrestled under the name Jade.

Michin and Green would continue to battle each other when they eventually moved to WWE NXT, facing off in multiple tag team, group matches, and one-on-one.

Green’s Women’s US Title victory marks her first singles win over Michin. Now, the score across both of their careers is 4-1 in favor of Michin.

Green also made sporadic appearances on WWE in 2014 and 2015 while also wrestling at TNA under the names Chelsea and Laurel Van Ness.

In 2018, Green made her WWE NXT debut in 2018 and remained on the developmental brand until 2020. She then made the jump to SmackDown. In 2021, she was released among multiple other wrestlers.

Green returned to WWE in 2023 as a participant in the 2023 Royal Rumble where she was eliminated by Rhea Ripley in five seconds.

Since then, she has become one of the most consistently funny and entertaining WWE Superstars, especially when teaming with Piper Niven.

In her professional wrestling career, Green has won the Impact Knockouts Championship, the Impact Knockouts World Tag Team Championship with Deonna Purrazzo, and the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship with Niven. The Women’s US Championship is her first singles title in WWE.
